It is with great pride and pleasure we would like to share with you the exciting news that the founder of our group Captain P.N. Tsakos was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree, from the prestigious City University of London in a magnificent ceremony that took place on 30-01-2018 at the Barbican Center in London.

In a statement released to the Press, City University states “We are delighted to announce that Captain Panagiotis N. Tsakos has been awarded a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his outstanding leadership and his unwavering commitment to supporting the work of the Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance at Cass Business School.”

In his acceptance speech, Captain Tsakos thanked City University for the great honour and speaking to the graduating class he paid tribute to shipping and to all seafarers. Specifically, he mentioned :

“This success has not been the accomplishment of one man, one family or even one single generation.  It has been the collective outcome of hard work and sacrifices over many decades, indeed centuries.
The entire shipping industry, which has grown to be one of the greatest and most well-run industries in the world, is the result of serious planning, wide cooperation, continuous training, ability to adjust to changes and disciplined behaviour and commitment by all its protagonists and employees, whether on board or ashore.”
Captain Tsakos wished all the graduates success and the fulfillment of all their dreams.”
